I like shiny cymbals because I liked all of my cymbals when I bought them, so I want them to stay that way. I have used Oxi Clean in the purple can to clean cymbals and it works just as good as Groove Juice at about a quarter of the price. 9oz of Groove Juice cost me $12, and 19oz of Oxi Clean cost me less than $6. Peace and goodwill.

My PAISTE 22" 2002 Ride is covered in an excessive layer of carnauba wax I used to seal it long ago. It's done the job very well, but I'm keen to remove it all, clean it up and lacquer it the correct way. (Its on the agenda).

pesronally if a cymbal is just dirty use soap warm water..if it its been left in damp with green stuff on it use pink stuff with some scotchpad and warm water.

Someone mentioned they used magic eraser to clean their cymbals. This made me intrigued. . so i busted out the bag of broken cymbals and gave it a try.

Did it work? With the natural finish yes it did. With the Brilliant finish.. stick marks yes, finger prints and oil... no not really

Do I recommend it... no lol

anyone have good suggestions for things to seal cymbals.
I always clean my cymbals but then they start to oxidize quickly.

Find similar product native to your area.
Cut with thinners. 50/50
Use a clean rag to apply (best to attach cymbal to a drill or lathe for spinning effect when applying).
Seals cymbal.
You'll never have oxidation issues again.
Doesn't affect sound.
Is what most cymbal manufacturers do.

I got an extremely cheap B8 splash with black (rust?) marks, scratches etc. and since it's worth little, I tried to clean it with Bar Keepers.. but noticed it's turning to silver. If I scrub the whole thing, will it loose all of its gold color? Are these things painted or what? I thought copper was yellow.

are you sure its b8 bronze?
I had a similar experience with what I thought was brass cymbals but what turned out to be aluminum or something cymbals.

Yes, it's a 10" Sabian one with B8 written on top in bold. I only tested it on the bottom and on some black parts. Maybe it's not completely silver, but losing all the yellow. New ones appear gold on images. I don't really care about the patina, because it sounds crap anyway, but I don't want to make it look even worse.

Do you have pictures?
Barkeeper's WILL remove all the garbage, dirt and corrosion if you rub it enough around the cymbal.
B8 is more orange because of the high copper content.
Brass is yellow because it has less copper and more zinc content.

I'm starting to think maybe what I see as silver is the original gold and what I see as gold is the dirt.. I think I'll scrub the whole bottom and see.
