Selling off gear

The music store near my house says they will pay 50% of the price that they expect to sell. Right or wrong that is their policy.
Now, I do not know how they come up with a reasonable "expected price to sell".

I once got a reasonable quote from Bentley's drum shop but it was for a brand new snare not any used item.
I sell my stuff almost exclusively through Reverb. If I have something larger, like a kit, I've gone that used music store route a couple times. I figured by the time I actually packed, boxed, and shipped a kit, I would probably be losing money anyway.

I typically sell cymbals or snares I don't need anymore through Reverb. A lot easier to post a fair price and ship those myself. Since I primarily buy used as well, I usually make my money back from selling cymbals. I THINK I'm done buying now though. I don't have THE set of cymbals but I have plenty to get me through any situation I've played in.

What are their fees like nowadays? Do you use PayPal, too?
EBay charges a final value fee (item + shipping) of 13.6% for selling drums under the "Musical Instruments and Gear" category, as they do not qualify for the lower rates of 6.7% of guitars and basses.

whomever is in charge of Drummerworld should consider a For Sale Drum Cymbal and Wanted section.
(like Drumforum.org has) We could handle it

Is @Supergrobi still active in the hierarchy here.
Or who to ask besides @austinz

Why don't we have a For Sale/ Wanted Section here..
Among ourselves; I think we could all handle it.

Yeah, I'm just selling off some gear I no longer use. Let me know if you're interested in anything.
Might be more productive to let us know what you're selling, in the Classifieds thread. 👍 :)

Like Stx said ..... 14% or thereabouts. You can pay thru PayPal FOR items ..... but eBay pays me thru direct deposit.

Agreed. It would help everyone and we would save $$ from going thru fee-bay or Reverb.

When I want to unload drum gear, I go to C&M Music in Lafayette, Louisiana. They have always treated me fairly. I may be going there Friday since I have one extra cymbal (an AAX 16 inch Thin Crash). Peace and goodwill.

Another good place is Gear Exchange from SweetWater. I have sold snare, HH and cymbals. I put my payout on account. It works out good. No problems.

After sleeping on it, I decided to take it to church. Peace and goodwill.
