Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple Bearing Edge Question

Please help the visually challenged. When I look at the pic below, it appears to me that the bass drum bearing edge is sharper than the snare and tom edges. Yet supposedly it's less sharp. What am I not seeing here? I mean the angle, not the R1.5 edge (slight rounding).

it's more "in the middle" hence bd head rides -contacts "more" of the wood outer side' of the shell (for warmth depth of tone)
(?) Gretsch RB to this day very similar (n the sense) tom tom/ bd edge/s differ
were doing this in the 50s

Thx guys - that's what I was seeing, but not interpreting correctly. I believe this is also similar to what DW took from Gretsch for their BD angle?

All I know is this 24x14" I have is really low and solid while still quick & punchy using either a clear or coated PS3 Batter head. Great drums.

I think the angle does in fact have some effect, I just can't remember exactly what that effect is.....
You're right. The effect is that when a head vibrates, specifically goes concave, the drumhead moves downward toward the bearing edge, so the contact area at the edge increases slightly. This increase will be greater with a shallow cut, compared to a steep cut. Splitting hairs, though, and I wouldn't worry about it.
